But don't panic. We are here to help you! In our shopping guide on "How to find your perfect nursing bra" we explain exactly what is important when buying a pregnancy and nursing bra and which models we recommend.

Quality and perfect support: our nursing bras

First of all: a good nursing bra is essential and super important. Maternity underwear and nursing underwear gives you the support you need, is totally comfortable and makes breastfeeding super easy. You can also prevent stretch marks and your breast will quickly return to its original shape after breastfeeding. But the purchase usually raises a few questions. We want to answer the most important ones briefly so that you know what to look out for when buying your maternity bra or nursing bra.

The right size for your pregnancy bra

You will probably notice at the beginning of your pregnancy that your bra no longer fits properly and pinches. That's why it's important to choose the right size when you buy your pregnancy bra or nursing bra. To do this, first measure the circumference directly under your breast and then measure your breast itself. Please make sure that the tape measure runs flat across your back and is loose. With the help of the measured values you can then easily read the size of your maternity underwear in our size chart.

When trying on your nursing bra, make sure that the underwire does not sit on your breast. If this is the case, the cup is too small and/or the underbust band is too wide. The underwire should rest on the ribs. The underbust band should also always run across your back in a horizontal line. If it does not, it means that the chosen circumference is too large. If you choose a nursing or pregnancy bra with a smaller circumference, remember that you may need a larger cup size!

If you choose a pregnancy bra, you should also make sure that it can be closed with the tightest hook. This will allow your maternity bra to grow comfortably with your chest, as it will expand over the next few months. The straps should not cut in and the cups should not press in your sensitive breasts.

Still bras - indispensable companions during pregnancy

After birth, your ribcage will slowly recede. For this reason it is advisable to buy a nursing bra which you close with one of the other hooks. There should be enough space left in the cups to easily insert a nursing pad. If you are thinking about buying a nursing bra towards the end of your pregnancy, you should also consider the milk leakage when choosing the cup size. So it makes sense to leave enough room here and take a cup size larger. As you can see, it is not so difficult to determine the size of a nursing bra or pregnancy bra if you know what to look for!

Support, comfort and handling

In addition to the size of the bra, there are three criteria you should consider when buying a nursing bra or a nursing bustier: maximum support, comfort and ease of use. This is the only way to ensure that your nursing bra can give you what you need. Your nursing bra should have clips on the straps so that you can fold down the cup with one hand and reach the breast without having to take it off completely! Especially in public this is a huge advantage. Special breastfeeding tops and shirts that allow you to access the breast just as easily are also helpful here. If this is still too intimate for you, breastfeeding ponchos help you to create a protected space for you and your little one when breastfeeding. For the night there are extra Schlaf Still bras. They have no annoying fastenings or seams, so you can sleep comfortably in them.

In addition to a nursing bra, a special bra is also very practical for pregnant women, which you should change to at the beginning of your pregnancy. They are usually made of pleasant cotton or microfibre, have wider straps and are easier to adjust in size with additional hooks. This makes them more comfortable to wear and takes the strain off your back.
