Why buy maternity tights?

Maternity tights are indispensable when it comes to the right outfit for pregnancy and breastfeeding. After all, they lie directly on the skin and, like your underwear, they are the first piece of clothing you put on to support you. Not only in the cold season do we recommend our different models with elasticated overbelly waistband, which give you the right support.

What are maternity tights?

Already during the first weeks of pregnancy, your belly and skin are particularly sensitive. Your existing tights will quickly feel too tight in the abdominal area and irritate the skin unnecessarily. In addition, they quickly start to slip as your belly gets bigger. Anything but comfortable, especially now that you need to feel good all over. Our maternity tights are made of particularly silky and elastic material according to the highest European standards. They give you smooth legs, are breathable and support you through every stage of your pregnancy. With extra stretch and a seamless tummy area, they give your baby bump perfect support.

For added support, we've developed extra styles with gentle support and no irritating seams. They counteract heavy legs and water retention and provide a slight shaping effect for particularly smooth legs. It's not for nothing that our Seamless maternity tights in 30 or 70 den are among our bestsellers. They are ideal to wear in every phase of pregnancy and look especially good with our maternity dresses. Even after the birth, our maternity tights with elasticated waistband can be worn for a while and give you gentle support during recovery.

Good to know: The Denier score (den)

The denier score, or "den" for short, describes the weight of the tights: the higher the number, the denser the tights are knitted and therefore more robust and warmer. We have maternity tights from 15 to 120 den, for every season and occasion.

Where to buy maternity tights?

You've come to the right place if you're looking for the right maternity tights, because we've known what's important in perfect tights since 2004. We recommend ordering several pairs of maternity tights in different thicknesses, in black and skin colours, in your usual size. In the last trimester, you may be looking for a little more wiggle room, which is where our best-selling Spanx maternity tights with a special tummy panel come in handy.

What is important in maternity tights?

  • Better wearing comfort thanks to elastic material and anti-slip effect
  • Gentle on the skin thanks to soft, elastic material mix
  • Abdominal support without disturbing seams with elastic waistband
  • Seamless, innovative design for a concealing effect
  • Tear-resistant and elastic for extra mobility
  • Supportive effect for heavy legs

Unlike conventional tights, the seam of maternity tights does not run directly across the tummy but along the side. This means that no annoying seams are visible under a maternity dress and you get a comfortable fit. The seamless design, flat seams and anti-slip effect will keep you in shape in any situation. Trying to wear regular tights just under your belly will cause uncomfortable slipping and cut into your skin. You also lack support and protection in the abdominal area. Even in warm temperatures, transparent maternity tights with a supportive effect and tummy band can be a pleasant solution under an airy dress.

Our maternity tights are particularly tear-resistant and protect you better from unpleasant runnings. The reinforced toe area gives your feet relief, especially at work or on the go. The innovative gusset without annoying seams and with a hygienic effect also gives you a comfortable feeling throughout the day. An absolute must-have for work and can be combined with maternity dresses and skirts.

How do I know if the tights fit?

Maternity tights should not be too loose and should fit tightly around the tummy without constricting. Our 3D maternity tights 60 den with soft waistband and flat seams on the sides are a true all-rounder. They are more elastic and tear-resistant than standard tights thanks to a special 3D knitting technique. They provide optimal support from the beginning of pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Especially in the last weeks of pregnancy, water retention can increase and cause particularly heavy legs. You can have your gynaecologist prescribe compression tights if you have severe symptoms. For mild symptoms, which accompany many pregnant women, we recommend our Seamless maternity tights 70 den with support effect and compression zones at the ankles. They increase comfort and relieve the pressure on your veins. Also ideal for prevention in the first months of pregnancy.

When should I start wearing maternity tights?

  • From the first trimester as support
  • In the colder season as a thermal protection
  • During the nursing and postnatal period as additional support

We recommend that you buy at least one pair of maternity tights in the first trimester to cover your tummy and support it throughout your pregnancy. Especially in autumn and winter, maternity tights are indispensable must-haves. Not only can you combine them perfectly with your dresses and skirts, but they can also be worn comfortably under maternity trousers or maternity leggings. They keep you warm and give you extra support - the perfect onion look for when you can't predict the weather.

What kinds of maternity tights are there?

Our opaque 3D maternity tights in 60 den (or 100 den) with flat seams on the sides have the perfect fit for your entire pregnancy. The special 3D knit gives your tummy good support and makes them particularly robust and tear-resistant. Goodbye runnings! More transparent models like our Seamless maternity tights with support effect in 70 den (or 30 den) are suitable throughout your pregnancy and beyond as an accessory for your clothes. With a baby bump, the tights will give you perfect comfort thanks to the seamless tummy area, and later they will support you during recovery. The gentle compression effect on the ankles also prevents heavy legs.

Our bestsellers

Are you on the go a lot and want to stay mobile at work or sit a lot? With our soft microfibre maternity tights 60 den, in skin colour or navy, you are always well equipped. They not only feel soft against your skin, but also offer you the comfort you need in everyday life.

Our transparent maternity pantyhose 15 den, in skin colour or black, are particularly suitable for summer or when you are wearing an elegant dress for a festive occasion. They are also a great solution for light support under your maternity trousers or leggings. Especially if you wear peep toes or sandals and your toes are visible. They generally add lightness to the outfit.

Maternity tights: Black or nude

Black and nude tones are the absolute classics in tights, so we focus mainly on these shades. Our maternity tights go with any maternity dress and always make you look stylish. Skin-coloured tights will bring out the best in elegant and festive dresses. However, if you want to make a patterned dress stand out, go for a pair of black tights.

Matt or shiny

Matte maternity tights make your legs look slimmer, especially in black. High-gloss tights are often too bulky and don't hide imperfections well. Silky smooth tights with a matte effect are therefore the best solution and our absolute favourite accessories.

Our skin-coloured seamless maternity tights 30 den with support effect adapt to your personal skin tone and conjure up particularly smooth legs. In black, they visually lengthen your legs, especially if you wear a little heel. A classy option that goes especially well with fine dresses. Our versatile maternity dresses with subtle patterns or in a plain colour look go particularly well with semi-transparent or opaque maternity tights now in autumn. In warmer weather and summer, many styles can be worn without or with light, nude-coloured maternity tights.

Maternity tights: Opaque or sheer

Depending on your preference, you can choose between more sheer or opaque maternity tights. The finer the more elegant is not quite right. Opaque models with a supportive effect, such as our Seamless maternity tights 70 den, often even create slimmer and longer legs. Note: black, opaque tights quickly look too wintry if the dress has short sleeves or is a bit airy. In that case, it's better to go for a more transparent model. Our maternity tights 40 den in matt black have a very stretchy knit and go particularly well with shorter and airier dresses. Sheer tights between 5 and 10 den are perfect for the summer months. They make your legs look more even when worn with dresses or skirts and conceal minor imperfections. Hardly anyone would guess that you're wearing tights.

How do I find my size?

The great advantage of maternity tights is that the space for the growing belly is already taken into account in the tights themselves. Our maternity tights are particularly elastic and soft, so they give you the room you need. They allow your baby bump to grow with you. So you can wear them during your pregnancy and well beyond, until your body has had time to grow back naturally. It is best to order your regular size that you wore before pregnancy. However, please take your body length into account and if you are between two sizes - it is better to grab some maternity tights one size larger!

Maternity tights in Summer

Unless it's absolutely sweltering, finely knitted maternity tights can be a great summer accessory. You can create great looks with short maternity dresses or shorts with our lighter styles, like the skin-coloured 15 den maternity tights. For parties or as a guest at a wedding, it is of course especially important to be able to show off even legs. As well as looking good, you'll get the support you need for your legs and tummy, and your feet will also fit snugly into your shoes thanks to the reinforced gusset at the toes. Our Mama Spanx maternity tights 20 den with extra supportive tummy panel and shaping effect are especially recommended for the last trimester. No seams show under a maternity dress and your silhouette is beautifully shaped. This means you can be out and about for longer periods of time without your legs getting too heavy.

Maternity tights in Winter

We advise you to choose higher deniers for maternity tights, especially in autumn and winter, as they are particularly warm then. The higher the denier, the more opaque the tights. For skin-coloured tights, make sure they match your own skin tone as closely as possible. Tip: just put them over your hand and compare.
